The CBBAG Ottawa Valley chapter has a new partner and a new venue for their annual Book Arts Show and Sale!

On November 16, 2019, Carleton University announced the opening of their new Book Arts Lab – “The Quad Press”. It has been years in the works and is finally open and working hard accumulating and setting up equipment for letterpress, bookbinding and all the other treats to be found in a book arts lab.

Many Ottawa area book arts leaders were consulted in the development of this lab, CBBAG Ottawa Valley included! It is smack dab in the middle of the MacOdrum Library at Carleton University — the walls of the lab are glass so everyone entering the library is drawn into the wonders of the book arts. Carleton University has a population of well over 35,000 students and faculty.

On October 17th, many vendors will have their wares for sale. Everything you would need to make a book or any art piece. Handmade paper, paste paper, marbled paper, great book paper, threads, endbands, tools, workshop sundries, letterpress items, workshop options – you get the idea! Demonstrations and talks by many in the field of book arts and conservation will also be held. Attendance is free.

We need you to help spread the word — we really hope to make this free event the roaring success it wants to be!

The CBBAG Ottawa Valley Book Arts Show and Sale will be held adjacent to the library, in a vast open space ready for many vendors and customers.
