A 2-day workshop
Saturday and Sunday, May 27-28, 2023 (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
Walk in the footsteps of Gutenberg in discovering the power of letterpress printing using movable type from the collection of the Book Arts Lab. Learn to print using a variety of presses that represent the vast history of printing in the West. Students will come away with multiple proofs of a short tract of text of their own choosing.
Larry Thompson has been a lead-head since the early Noughts. He printed a handful of books, produced lots of linocuts and wood engravings, and (after a brief absence of 30 years) returned to his alma mater Carleton University to assist in founding the Book Arts Lab in MacOdrum Library, where he now works full time.
Location: MacOdrum Library, Book Arts Lab, 1125 Colonel By Drive Ottawa ON
Cost: $110.00 (members), $170.00 (non-members), plus $10 material fee per student (materials are provided by the instructor and material costs are paid for by the students as an addition to the workshop fees).
