Saturday & Sunday, January 13-14, 2018

This course is open to students who haven’t yet worked with leather. Basics of leather work will be covered excluding paring as its not necessary for these structures. Each student will work on two miniatures — the first having an unadorned cover and containing blank pages. This structure allows the pages to be removed and replaced so it is perfect for passing secret messages. The second will contain pre-printed text blocks (supplied) or make this one blank as well. Decorative options for the second model will be discussed. Students should be able to get the first model completed during the class and unless tremendously ambitious should be able to finish the second one as well.  All materials will be supplied but bring along embellishment fibers (embroidered spine or “sewn on” leather patches, etc.). Folks could also choose to bring their favourite pre-pared bits of leather: 10cm x 7cm x .3mm thick (bring your paring knife along as well).
